Description

Dick Riley’s Western Region in Devon & Cornwall is a true record of an area he visited several times. Starting at the Devon end of Whitehall tunnel we travel the length of the main line to Penzance including most of the branch lines on the way. Visits are also made to several of the engine sheds with expertly composed views depicting the railway in the steam era.     When a new collection appears from a well known photographer, one tends to approach with caution. How much is really new?

    With this book, one should have no qualms, it is a good selection of views familiar and not so well known. Captions are detailed and comprehensive. Further volumes awaited with interest. *****
