Dick Riley’s Western Region in Devon & Cornwall is a true record of an area he visited several times. Starting at the Devon end of Whitehall tunnel we travel the length of the main line to Penzance including most of the branch lines on the way. Visits are also made to several of the engine sheds with expertly composed views depicting the railway in the steam era. The whole is accompanied by detailed and informative captions compiled by expert Stuart Malthouse.

When a new collection appears from a well known photographer, one tends to approach with caution. How much is really new?
With this book, one should have no qualms, it is a good selection of views familiar and not so well known. Captions are detailed and comprehensive. Further volumes awaited with interest. *****

I was disappointed with this publication. The large scale reproduction of Dicks superb photography meant that sharpness was compromised.

Nice to see a Western book on Devon and Cornwall brought more to life in colour. Very interesting content. Recommended.

The layout, content, breadth of area covered and captions are a great standard.
What lets the book down is the poor sharpness to the photos as they have been transferred to print.
I have many RCRiley photos, books and articles in my collection and they are all pin sharp in detail.
The book is enjoyable, with a number of unseen( by me) images within.
