As well as Liverpool, Birkenhead and Chester, other featured locations include Allerton, Crewe, Frodsham, Garston, Helsby, Hooton, Moore, Northwich, Olive Mount, Runcorn, Warrington and Widnes, and there are also glimpses of Arpley, Bidston, Burscough, Cronton, Earlestown, Ellesmere Port, Padgate, Rock Ferry, Rufford, Southport, St Helens and Weaver Jct.
The trains pictured, more than half featuring steam locomotives, range from a steam-age Jinty 0-6-0T shunting coal trucks at the site of Liverpool’s original 1830 Crown Street station, to an electric tilting Advanced Passenger Train on the West Coast Main Line at Winwick Jct.
