The year also sadly saw the last run of the famous Ivatt Atlantics and the end of the line for the Scottish “Glens” and “Lochs”. More positively, new locomotives were introduced in the shape of the SR’s No. 10201, the Fell locomotive No. 10100, and gas turbine No. 18000. Southampton Docks saw the opening of the prestigious new Ocean Liner terminal.
