1 review for Railway Times Issue 7 – 1954

  1. Michael Barnsley

I found this issue very interesting, for two reasons. It took me back to the peak years of my locospottng activities, with new standards and d,m,us,, and it featured the MSWJR 2-4-0s, I became very interested in the MSWJR after discovering the closed line after moving to Cheltenham in 1962, so I was very pleased to see its locos featured.

However I don’t think the tender shown on page 30 came from a 2-4-0, as the side sheets are too tall. I think it is the tender from MSWJR 4-4-0 No.4, GWR No.1122, whose tender was given GWR No.555. After the loco was withdrawn, the tender was converted to sludge tank No.2, and sent to Reading.

So sorry, it is 4 stars, not 5.
